What I Often Treat

Treatments

I treat physical, emotional and neurological issues with Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Formulas, Moxa heat therapy, electro-stimulation, Gua-Sha and Tui Na (forms of body work).

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are safe and effective treatments for: (this is a basic list and your issue may not be mentioned).

  • Acute and Chronic Pain: headache, neck, shoulder, arm, back, sciatica, leg, neuropathy, joint and muscle pain, etc.
  • Respiratory Issues: chronic cough, asthma, shortness of breath, colds, etc.
  • Digestive Issues: acid reflux, gas, bloating, IBS, chronic constipation and diarrhea, etc.
  • Emotional Issues: depression, stress, anxiety, etc.
  • Sleep Issues: insomnia, difficulty falling asleep, waking up, etc.
  • General Issues: hot flashes, night sweats, frequent urination, weight issues, vertigo, etc.

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine treat each person as an individual whole being. The diagnosis and treatments are not based on a western medical diagnosis. Every little symptom is a part of an Oriental pattern diagnosis and treatment.

Oriental Medicine, a holistic health care system, developed in China over 3,000 years ago, uses Acupuncture, Herbal Formulas, Body Work and Food Therapy. Acupuncture works with the vital energy found in all living things which they call Qi (pronounced chee). Acupuncture needles are inserted into very specific points on the energy meridians of the body to restore the balance and smooth flow of Qi in the body. This promotes the body’s natural ability to heal its self.

During the initial appointment, a history is taken and the current symptoms are discussed. The diagnosis and treatment plan is based on the symptoms, the tongue and the pulse. Herbal Formulas, vitamins, life style and dietary changes may be suggested.

The acupuncture needles are very thin, single use, sterilized, and are disposed of in a designated sharps container. Acupuncture needle insertion should not be painful. A heaviness or tingling sensation may be felt at the insertion site. Treatments are meant to be very relaxing. It is not uncommon for a person to fall asleep during a treatment.

Each person responds to Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine differently. A person’s constitution and the duration of an issue influence the course of treatment. Oriental Medicine recognizes that no two people are alike, even if they have the same western diagnosis.
